Handing Out Poems on Halloween (It’s the Candy Kids’ Brains Really Crave)

Handing out candy for Halloween is so cliché. This year, become the house that all the kids and parents want to go to and hand out a poem! It’s the candy that young minds crave!

Handing out traditional candy comes with a ton of moral dilemmas for today’s health-conscious household. You could dish out raisins and pencils but those old stalwarts are played out. No one under the age of 90 wants a bunch of dried grapes and giving a kid a pencil for Halloween is like giving your wife a vacuum cleaner for her birthday.

Instead, hand out a poem and engage those young minds by providing a healthy alternative to those Hershey bars and stale gum that everyone else will be doling out this year.

Imagine the subtle joy on the little ones’ faces when they receive an unabridged version of Whitman’s “Leaves of Grass” in lieu of a full-sized candy bar?
